Airsoft game types

Games with airsoft guns can be played during the day or night, indoor or outdoor, subject to site/landscape restrictions. Game types are generally as per site administrator preferences, but many site administrators invite players input when creating those games.

While any game type can vary, they tend to follow one or more of the following formats:

- Elimination – The first team to eliminate the other is the winner
- Elimination with lives – As per elimination but players have X number of lives and can be ‘tagged’ back into battle by other players
- Elimination with respawn – As per elimination but players can walk back to a pre-determined ‘respawn’ point to come back into the game. As a result, respawn games tend to be time limit based.
- Attack/defend – A version of elimination where teams take it in turns to attack and defend an objective
- Capture the flag – Can be one flag or one flag per team. Teams attempt to capture the flag from the opposing team and bring it back to their own base
- Capture the objective – Teams attempt to clear and capture pre-defined objective points, e.g. fort, helicopter, etc.
- Rescue the hostage – Teams attempt to rescue a hostage held captive by the opposing team and bring him/it back to their base
- Medics – All of the above game types can include medics. As per elimination but players can be ‘healed’ in battle by appointed medic players
