Desert Eagle airsoft pistols review

Being an overcompensating tough guy I had always dreamed of adding a Desert Eagle to collection of airsoft guns.

Luckily at the end of an action packed day one of the players had one for sale for a meagre $60. Not having a sidearm at the time I grabbed some cash and bought myself my dream pistol.

The first thing that hits you about this gun is the sheer size – it really is massive. The gun measures a whopping 27 cm from the cocking lever to the tip and rivals other electric airsoft guns.

It takes small CO2 gas cylinders which can be picked up very inexpensively from a local gunsmith. One cylinder will last just over two magazines, although you don’t want to get caught out so changing after two mags is the prudent option.

It’s worth noting that very few Airsoft shops sell these cylinders (but do try online), so make sure you know where you can get a hold of them first!

Desert Eagle airsoft pistols feature a gas blowback slide – and with a full metal body it has one hell of a kick and a great sound when you load it – it really feels as if you’re firing an actual handgun. Combined with a massive 380 feet per second fire speed you’ve really got a weapon you don’t want to be on the receiving end of.

Ok so it has a few cons – they’re massive, heavy and not the most portable airsoft bb guns. Most pistol holsters won’t fit this gun as standard, be they thigh, shoulder or tac vest. However, most have stitching that can be removed to make space. Also being gas canister fuelled it’s difficult to tell how much gas you have left and if you’re only firing a few shots per game it is possible to pull it out and run of gas – not good!

Lastly it’s very accurate for a pistol and holds up well against other SMG airsoft guns. I put this down to the long barrel and FPS. An extended mag is definitely recommended.

For me though, given that I picked it up for $60, I love this gun. It really isn’t a ‘tactical sidearm just in case I run out of ammo’ weapon – it’s more of an ‘alright it’s Deagle time!’ weapon that’s ridiculously satisfying to hit someone with, especially as it really hurts!

To conclude, if you’re looking for an ‘I’m out of ammo, lucky I’ve got my handy sidearm’ weapon then this gun isn’t for you. If you’re more of a ‘he’s been shooting at us for half an hour now, it’s time for him to get shot’ kind of guy or an ‘I love to sit around the house repeatedly loading a giant handgun’ kind of guy then I absolutely recommend this gun, it’s got good times written all over it and will quickly become one of your favourite airsoft electric guns.
